A Clam in a Jam!
I was a clam without a care
things always worked for me
I loved my sand and weed' home
alone beneath the sea
But then one day I had a shock, an uninvited guest
who sat his great fat body
right down upon my chest
It happened rather quickly
while I was having tea,
that fat old Mr. Rock Cod
chose to sit on me
I called in indignation,
"Look here, I'm not a chair"
I just don't think he heard me
he went on sitting there.
And when at last the old chap left,
I tried to open wide
I pushed and pushed with all my strength
and still was stuck inside
but then my friends came round me
and soon i heard them say
"He must be getting hungry
he's been like that all day"
"We'll send for doctor wallace crab"
said starfish with a shout
"The doctor is the very one
to help to get him out"
then doctor crab walked sideways in,
and looked at me with a whistful grin,
"Kim Cuttle fish that's who you need,
he'll work you free with extra speed"
and soon nurse prawn came swimming by
Kim Cuttle fish came too,
he bashed at me with all his strength,
till I was black and blue
then doctor Wallace turned quite grey,
and said "now Kim, that's not the way".
"A gentle push upon his shell
will probably do just as well".
so using Kim's swift cutting flair
he pushed around my shell with care,
and not forgetting what crab said,
he gently pushed upon my head.
then taking up some weed from shore,
Kim tickled me beneath my jaw
which made me cough and sneeze so well
It opened up my clammed up shell.
and so it was on turn of tide
that I at last did open wide,
and doctor Wallace quickly said,
"it's time my lad that you were fed".
so then the crab went and found some food
to put me in a party mood
and with my friends I danced and sang
until the morning tide began
But don't you think it rather off
a fish the size of fat old cod,
should choose to sit on poor clam's shell
when any rock would do as well.
